Why Kim Kardashian Was In The SNL50 Anniversary Special
Kim Kardashian was notably in attendance at the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special on February 16, 2025. Although some of the most legendary cast members in SNL's history were not in attendance, such as Dan Aykroyd and fan-favorite Bill Hader, Kardashian appeared in one of the early segments that also featured Kristen Wiig, Ana Gasteyer, Scarlett Johansson, and Will Ferrell, who portrayed his classic Robert Goulet character.
The SNL 50th Anniversary Special featured all sorts of iconic guests and special appearances, including Adam Sandler, Bill Murray, and even a shocking public appearance by Jack Nicholson. The special combined actors, comedians, and various public figures to celebrate the 50-year legacy of Saturday Night Live like never before. It wrapped up a weekend of festivities on NBC and Peacock, which also included an SNL50: The Homecoming Concert at Radio City Music Hall and a full-length documentary, Ladies & Gentlemen... 50 Years of SNL Music.
Kim Kardashian Has Hosted SNL Before
She Hosted Once In Season 47, Episode 2
Kardashian hosted one episode of Saturday Night Live in 2021. It was season 47, episode 2 with musical guest Halsey, during which Kardashian sparked a relationship wth former SNL cast member Pete Davidson, who also made several appearances including his signature character Chad. Davidson and Kardashian were not seen or scripted together during the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special. Kristen Wiig was shown playing drums with her signature baby hands on Kardashian's rear during the SNL 50 version of the classic "Lawrence Welk" skit, which first debuted on SNL back in 2008.
During her SNL episode in 2021, Kardashian wore an unforgettable velvet pink outfit during her opening monologue as she made jokes about everything from her various family members to her own sex tape. She went on to participate in sketches such as "The Switch", "Ladies Night Song", "The People's Kourt", "The Dream Guy", a parody "Skims Commercial", and "Jasmine and Aladdin", all of which have amassed millions of views on YouTube.
Kardashian Was One Of Many Hosts Brought Back For The SNL 50 Special
John Mulaney, Emma Stone, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks & More Returned
Dozens of previous hosts were featured in the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special. These include John Mulaney, Emma Stone, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, and many more who appeared in various kits and as distinguished audience members. Even Robert De Niro made a late appearance in an iconic "Debbie Downer" skit with Drew Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon, and Ayo Edebiri after an unexpected Lil Wayne musical guest performance.
Kardashian would not return after she made an appearance early in the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special. She did certainly glam up the Red Carpet show before the SNL 50 special.
