Suits: LA Is Already Lying About Harvey Specter's Replacement Before The Spinoff Even Premieres
Ahead of its premiere, Suits LA is already lying about Harvey Specter's replacement in the franchise — Ted Black. Stephen Amell is fronting Aaron Korsh's new legal drama set on the West Coast. Born from Suits' surprising streaming resurgence in 2023, Suits LA will exist in the same universe as the USA Network show but will feature an entirely new ensemble. Admittedly, going down this creative route is a bit disappointing for those who want more stories that center on fan favorites such as Harvey, Mike Ross, Donna Paulsen, and even Louis Litt, as well as Jessica Pearson.
While an original Suits revival is out of the question, its spinoff promises to be a worthy successor of its legacy. It will be difficult to replicate the chemistry of the Pearson, Hardman crew, but Korsh and NBC assembled an ensemble that could hopefully rival it. InSuits LA's story, Ted and his cohorts cater to Hollywood's biggest stars and celebrities. Only time can tell if Amell's character will be able to match Macht's arrogant appeal of Harvey, but as early as now, the offshoot is already making a doubtful claim about Suits LA's protagonist.
Ted Black Claims He's The Best Attorney In The Country In The Suits: LA Trailer
It May Not Be Entirely True, However
Ahead of its release, NBC has already released the official trailer for the show, offering a proper look at Ted and his cohorts on the West Coast. Unlike its parent series, which twist was apparent from the start, the spinoff appears to be a more straightforward legal series — unless Korsh is hiding a bigger hook at this point. Regardless of what comes, however, Suits: LA is already lying about Ted, as he claims that he is the best attorney in the country.
Admittedly, there is no context to Amell's declaration in the promotional clip. It's possible that he is simply trying to convince a new potential client to sign with his law firm. It's a bold claim, especially since Harvey only touted himself as the best closer in New York. That said, Suits: LA itself will likely disprove Ted's words, and very early on in its run.
Harvey's Role In Suits: LA Disproves Ted's Claim
New York's Best Closer Is Coming In To Save Ted's Lawfirm
While none of the original Pearson, Hardman crew would be series regulars in the new show, Harvey is confirmed to be in Suits: LA for a multi-episode arc. This will mark Macht's return to acting since Suits wrapped up its nine-season run, and although it's far from ideal, seeing him again is something to be excited about in Suits: LA. Sadly, his appearance effectively disproves Ted's claim that he is the best attorney in the country. Harvey's introduction in the spinoff is actually because he and his law firm are in trouble.
Harvey will appear in Suits: LA to help Ted navigate a difficult situation. It's unclear what it is, but it is a stark difference as to how the flagship began — with New York's best closer getting a promotion. Considering his predicament, it weakens Amell's character's claim that he is the country's best attorney when he has to call a favor from someone that he hasn't worked with in years. It's safe to say that Harvey will deliver since Ted's firm will be saved, re-emphasizing just how good he still is at his job.
