The Bondsman First Images: Kevin Bacon Is A Demon Hunter In Prime Video's Horror Series
New images offer a first look at Prime Video's The Bondsman. The upcoming 2025 horror TV show stars Kevin Bacon as Hub Halloran, who has been released from Hell if he agrees to help the Devil, via his Appalachian regional manager Midge (Jolene Purdy), as a bounty hunter for escaped demons. The cast of the upcoming show, which was created by Grainger David and is being showrun and executive produced by Erik Oleson (The Man in the High Castle, Arrow), also includes Jennifer Nettles, Beth Grant, Damon Herriman, and Maxwell Jenkins.
Vanity Fair has now shared a set of exclusive first-look images from The Bondsman. The images primarily showcase Hub Halloran in various scenes in which he interacts with either demons or other major characters. This includes a shot of him onstage with his ex-wife Maryanne (Nettles), a glimpse at him in the forest with Midge, and two images of him with his mother Kitty (Beth Grant), in a pair of intense moments that include the duo running from a blazing fire.
The more horrifying side of Hub's life can be seen in two scenes, which get two shots apiece. One shows Hub peering through a slat in between two wooden boards, while another seemingly shows what he is looking at, which is a demonic face with glowing eyes peering back at him. Another pair of images sees him hunting down a demonic cheerleader, who is seen crawling beneath a diving board and then wrestling with Hub underwater. See the full-size images below:
What This Means For The Bondsman
It Gives Kevin Bacon A New Type Of Horror Role
As these images from the new horror show reveal, The Bondsman will pay homage to the many Kevin Bacon horror movies that have been made since he kickstarted his career by perishing violently in the 1980 slasher Friday the 13th. Since then, he has starred in a multitude of titles in the genre, playing major characters in titles such as Tremors, Flatliners, Stir of Echoes, and The Darkness, in addition to flipping the script by portraying villains in movies such as They/Them and Hollow Man.
Kevin Bacon also took his penchant for horror to the small screen by starring in the Kevin Williamson crime thriller The Following, which ran for three seasons between 2013 and 2015.
However, his character in The Bondsman offers him a new type of role in the horror genre. The Prime Video show sees Hub Halloran landing somewhere inconclusive on the spectrum between hero and villain. While he does not believe himself to be deserving of being in Hell, he has committed an unknown act that landed him there in the first place, the exploration of which will likely complicate his character arc throughout the first season.
Our Take On The Bondsman Images
The Show Seems Promising
In addition to highlighting the intensity of the horror that fuels the main storyline, these images from The Bondsman showcase the fact that the series is more than just a monster-of-the-week programmer. The characters in Hub's orbit seem to be just as important as the demons that he is fighting, as they are given equal weight in the collection of first-look images. While it is unknown how they will collide with his new life as a demonic bounty hunter, it seems that they will be key to the exploration of his past and what brought him down his current path.
