New 9-1-1 Spinoff Location & Release Window Revealed

The location and release window for the 9-1-1spinoff have both been revealed, as the hit franchise prepares to release its second spinoff. With the conclusion of 9-1-1: Lone Star, which ended earlier this year, attention has been steadily turning its attention to a new city. The first-responder saga, which began in 2018 with the Los Angeles-based 9-1-1, combines outlandish emergencies with a bit of humor and personal angst. The formula has worked like a charm so far, with the latest attempt gaining steam.

Deadlineconfirms that the next 9-1-1 spinoff has been given a straight-to-series order at ABC. With the title 9-1-1: Nashville, the new show will be written and executive produced by franchise co-creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear alongside 9-1-1: Lone Star showrunner Rashad Raisani. It will premiere during the 2025-26 broadcast TV season, which means later this year. The project hails from 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television, with fellow franchise co-creator Brad Falchuk and 9-1-1 star Angela Bassett executive producing. The update also mentions that 9-1-1 season 9 is likely to be renewed.

What The New 9-1-1 Spinoff Means For The Franchise

There's Been A Lot Of Debate About The Location

The second spinoff, which gained momentum after 9-1-1 moved from FOX to ABC, has been debating possible locations. In previous comments, Raisani mentioned that producers were cognizant of avoiding common cities for television franchises, using the One Chicago franchise as an example. Las Vegas was considered a possibility at one point, as was the case with Hawaii, but the latter option proved too costly.

Nashville was chosen by producers, partly because of a tax credit that the spinoff was offered. Even though the city may not be utilized as often on the small screen as New York or D.C., Nashville was the title of a country music drama series that starred 9-1-1 alum Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere. It ran from 2012 to 2018 for a total of six seasons.
