D&D Shows Off Cover Art For This Summer's Next Big Adventure Book, Teasing Massive Dragon Adventures

Dungeons & Dragonshas revealed the cover for the new Dragon Delves anthology book. Later this year, Wizards of the Coast will release its first adventure anthology released for D&D's revised 5th edition ruleset. The new adventure book, called Dragon Delves, features 10 adventures, all of which focus on D&D's most iconic creatures - the dragons themselves. Notably, this anthology breaks away from traditional D&D art styles, with each adventure featuring distinctive art primarily by one artist.

This weekend at Magic Con Chicago, Wizards of the Coast officially revealed the standard and alternate covers for Dragon Delves. The standard cover by British Magic: The Gathering artist Greg Staples features the five chromatic dragons looming over a group of three adventurers. The alternate cover art by artist Justine Jones shows a red dragon on a cover that uses bold, contrasting color choices, as seen on the official D&D Instagram page.

What We Know About Dragon Delves, D&D's Newest Adventure Anthology

Dragon Delves Features Level 1 - Level 12 Adventures, Focused On Metallic And Chromatic Dragons

Officially revealed earlier this year, Dragon Delves will feature 10 short adventures. Each adventure focuses on either a different type of chromatic or metallic dragon, with some adventures featuring a fight against the dragon and others focused on assisting the dragon in some way. While each adventure is supposed to be standalone, there will be three campaign options that allow DMs to link the adventures together. Adventures will range from Level 1 to Level 12. Also included is an art section showcasing dragon art from across 50 years of D&D books and other materials.

Dragon Delves also departs from Wizards' in-house style for D&D anthology books. As mentioned earlier, each adventure in the anthology features artwork created by a different artist. While most D&D artists conform to an in-house style, the art in Dragon Delves all provide their own unique style to the work. Confirmed artists with work appearing in Dragon Delves include Luke Eidensink, Dominik Mayer, and Ed Kwong. The new book will be released on July 8, 2025, and will be available on D&D Beyond, at game stores, and online retailers.

Our Take: D&D Dragon Anthology Could Be A Low-Key Banger

D&D Anthology Looks Cool, With Big Dragon Adventures

Traditionally, D&D's anthologies have struggled to really hold my interest. The adventures in the books provide some solid material for homebrew campaigns, but the lack of setting material and any kind of unique style makes these anthologies a bit boring at times. By emphasizing the art, Dragon Delves feels different from other D&D anthologies. Not only should the book be fun to read, but I love the idea of D&D publishing adventures that lean into a unique art style to evoke certain feelings. Dragon Delves is at the top of my most-anticipated Dungeons & Dragons books of 2025.
