While there are several shocking twists in Squid Game season 2, the most surprising of all is that the Squid Games do not finish before the season 2 finale. This sets up a cliffhanger ending at the end of Squid Game season 2, placing Gi-hun in a tragic and dangerous situation following the death of his best friend, Jung-bae. Before the finale, however, Gi-hun, Jung-bae, and In-ho all worked together to win the six-legged pentathlon, one of the new games featured in Squid Game.

It plays around the 12-minute mark in the episode
During the six-legged pentathlon scene in Squid Game season 2, episode, 5, one of the songs that plays is "To You" by Shin Hae-chul. The song can be heard on both YouTube and Spotify. It plays during the final round of the six-legged pentathlon around the 12-minute mark as Gi-hun and his team race against the clock to make it out alive. Other songs play at the beginning of the episode as a montage of contestants playing the six-legged pentathlon.

The song abruptly stops once Player 001 fails to hit the Spinning Top on his first try, which nearly kills their momentum.
Why “To You” Was Chosen For Squid Game Season 2, Episode 5’s Gi-hun Team Scene
The happy & optimistic song contrasts with the terrifying game
In a recent Netflix interview, the writer and director of Squid Game Hwang Dong-hyuk joked about choosing the song "To You" by Shin Hae-chul during filming. He reveals that he wanted to have a happy song playing during such a terrifying sequence because of the stark juxtaposition and contrast between the reality of the scene and the optimistic sense of collaboration between the players. The ensuing silence as Player 001 tries to get the Spinning Top right adds tension so that when he does finally nail it, the song resumes and carries the team to the finish line in Squid Game season 2.
