However, much like ACOTAR, Disney had the rights to adapt Children of Blood and Bone, the first book in the series, for many years, but any plans they had went nowhere.

Fantasy TV shows are doing well right now, and with ACOTAR's built-in fanbase, it has the potential to be an unprecedented hit.

Upcoming romantasy TV shows like Fourth Wing and Quicksilver make it all the more surprising that Disney let ACOTAR sit in development and didn't make the series a priority. Today, the Children of Blood and Bone production is in motion, with amazing stars attached and Gina Prince-Bythewood directing, but it's Paramount producing, not Disney.
