Now, we finally have an official start date and a new key visual for the next installment of The Rising of the Shield Hero.According to the latest announcement, Season Four of Shield Hero is set to premiere in July 2025. The Rising of the Shield Hero first began as a light novel written by Aneko Yusagi and illustrated by Seira Minami. It was first published by Kadokawa in 2013. The anime adaptation proved to be a hit when it debuted in 2019, with fans praising the animation by Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss) and its unique twists on the established isekai genre.
The story of The Rising of the Shield Hero follows Naofumi Iwatani, a regular college student who is summoned to a fantasy world as the "Shield Hero." Unlike the other heroes, who wield powerful weapons, he’s stuck with just a shield, making him seem weak. Things get worse when he’s betrayed and falsely accused, turning everyone against him. Determined to survive, he buys a demi-human slave, Raphtalia, and later meets Filo, a bird-like creature. Together, they fight off powerful monsters called “Waves” and uncover the secrets of the strange world they find themselves in.

What’s Next for The Rising of the Shield Hero?
Two new characters and voice actors are set to join The Rising of the Shield Hero in Season Four. Takeo Otsuka will voice Werner, a winged representative of the Shusaku race in Siltvelt. Meanwhile, Jiro Saito will take on the role of Jaralis, a demi-human from Siltvelt's lion race. Both characters can be seen alongside the enthroned Naofumi in the newly released key visual.
