MANILA – Brittany Tamayo and Tashanah Balangauan seek to keep their winning forms in the second leg of the ICTSI Junior Philippine Golf Tour Visayas-Mindanao Series on May 14 at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod City.
Tamayo and Balangauan dominated the girls’ 11-14 and 15-18 categories, respectively, at the Mactan Island Golf Course in Cebu last Tuesday.
“I know I can do more,” Tamayo said on Friday. The 13-year-old from Notre Dame of Marbel University scored a five-stroke victory over Zuri Bagaloyos in the first leg.
Balangauan, meanwhile, made an impressive debut in the circuit with her seven-stroke win over Precious Zaragosa.
“My JPGT experience gave me insight into what I need to improve for my next tournament. It motivates me to train even harder,” said Balangauan, who hails from Cebu.
Also aiming for back-to-back titles are Cebu’s Denise Mendoza (girls' 7-10), Davao’s Ethan Lago (boys’ 7-10), and Bukidnon’s Ralph Batican (boys' 11-14).
Eyeing the crown in the boys’ 15-18 category are local standouts Santi Asuncion, Lance Soberano, Azie Acuña, Cybon Casil, Eddie Gonzales, Raphael Aguilar and John Rey Oro, Cebu’s Nyito Tiongko and Yosef Tiongko, Davao’s James Teves, and Canlaon’s Blake Bautista.
The JPGT series will shift to the Bacolod Golf and Country Club in Binitin, Murcia from May 19 to 21, before heading to Mindanao for a four-leg swing that kicks off at Del Monte Golf Club from June 25 to 27. (PNA)
