Skipping The Bachelorette In 2025 Proves The Producers Don't Care About The Leads Finding True Love (They Only Care About Ratings)
While some were interested in seeing another season of The Bachelorettein 2025, ABC’s decision not to air a new season of the series this year proves that the producers don’t actually care about the leads finding true love. Throughout The Bachelorette season 21, Jenn Tran’s search for love was thwarted at nearly every turn. Jenn, who was originally one of the women who hoped she’d win Joey Graziadei’s heart, made it clear that she was joining the ABC phenomenon to find love, but the show wasn’t going to be an easy journey for the long-running show’s new leading lady.
As the first-ever Asian American Bachelorette, Jenn felt that she needed to be clear about her cultural identity and what she was looking for, but things didn’t fall into place throughout her season in the way she originally hoped. With issues abound, The Bachelorette season 21 proved that the show’s struggles weren’t just due to the cast or lead. Jenn’s cast of guys was intended for a different lead, which led to mishandled connections and difficult moments, and the rushed season made things much more difficult as the season drew to a close. Now, The Bachelorette is taking a break.
Bachelor In Paradise Followed By Golden Bachelor Will Air Instead Of The Bachelorette
The Network Is Changing The Schedule For The First Time In Years
Although the typical Bachelor Nation schedule for the year has been the norm for nearly a decade, things are changing for the first time in a long time this year. After the January premiere of The Bachelor season 29, ABC is changing things up with the way they air Bachelor Nation shows. Typically, the franchise airs three to four shows a year. In the last few years, ABC has aired The Bachelor in the winter months,The Bachelorette in the spring and summer months, Bachelor In Paradise in the summer, and The Golden Bachelor in the fall.
While The Golden Bachelor is a new addition to the lineup, the franchise format has been the norm for quite some time. In 2025, The Bachelorette will be removed from the lineup in order to bring Bachelor In Paradise back to the lineup in a new and exciting way. The Bachelor will air through the winter and early spring months, followed by the return of Bachelor In Paradise after a hiatus, and The Golden Bachelor season 2 will air late this year. While many have wondered why The Bachelorette is taking time away, others understand issues need to be addressed.
Producers Want To Air Shows That Will Do Better In Terms Of Ratings
The Franchise Is Playing A Numbers Game
Although The Bachelor and its spin-offs are popular online, the ratings game on network TV is very different from the traction shows gain on social media. Bachelor Nation is a very vocal, very active community on social media, but that vocal fanbase doesn’t always translate to viewership. While The Bachelor and its subsequent spin-offs often dominate the conversation online during the live episodes each week, it can be tough to tell if those talking about the series are actually watching, or if they’re simply just following along with others. Bachelor shows have shared their ratings are important to overall success.
While some are watching The Bachelor and The Bachelorette from season to season, they shy away from shows like Bachelor In Paradise or The Golden Bachelor, favoring the traditional format. Others do the opposite, enjoying the more non-traditional forms of the shows and opting to watch them and participate in the conversation rather than those who enjoy the originals. Throughout the run of the series and its spin-offs, viewer preference has changed considerably, but one thing remains the same. Bachelor producers want to make the best possible decisions on what shows to air and when to ensure viewers tune in.
The Bachelorette Has One Of The Best Track Records Of All The Bachelor Nation Shows
The Show Has A Longstanding History Of Performing Well
Although The Bachelorette season 21’s ratings may not have been on par with other seasons, the series has long been one of the best rated shows of the entire franchise. While Jenn’s season had its difficulties, it was still a well-watched, thoroughly discussed season of the show. Producers and executives may have taken issue with the viewer perception of the season, as it pushed viewers to acknowledge the issues they were seeing in the series and speak openly about them, but it was still pulling in numbers. As a show that performs well, seeing The Bachelorette on break is odd.
It seems likely that The Bachelorettebeing on break came out of two things, neither of which are the right reasons for a break. The show was put on hiatus because the producers knew that viewers weren’t having an easy time with the last season and on top of that, because they don’t care about looking for genuine love stories. Instead, Bachelor producers are trying to ensure that once The Bachelorette returns, they have enough people interested in watching to justify the show being on the air. Rather than rooting for genuine love, producers are looking for metrics.
