“One Of The Fewer Times I’ve Seen Bailey Being Vulnerable”: Jenna Dewan Breaks Down The Rookie Season 7 Episode 7’s Biggest Bailey & Nolan Moments

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for The Rookie season 7, episode 7!The Rookie star Jenna Dewan has unpacked season 7, episode 7's biggest Bailey and Nolan moments, explaining what they mean for the couple. The Rookie season 7 has provided plenty of challenges for Bailey (Dewan) and Nolan (Nathan Fillion), especially after the police officer learns his wife helped a hitman to kill her ex-husband, Jason (Steve Kazee). However, the latest episode saw them talk through what happened, after Bailey helps out at a battered women's shelter, fully realizing the abuse her own ex-husband put her through. They decided to move on from what happened, despite her breaking the law.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Dewan explained how The Rookie season 7, episode 7's moments between Bailey and Nolan emphasize how much she needs him. While their relationship was on thin ice after episode 6's revelation, the actor explained how realizing how much of a victim her character had been allowed her to play her with more vulnerability. It also highlighted the depth of the pair's relationship, with her being willing to ask Nolan for help in fixing her situation. Check out what Dewan had to say below:

I think she was so hoping that he would be able to help her fix it. I think when she says, “Please fix this,” that's her way of saying, “Please help me fix this. I want us, but I don't really know how to do it, but I need your help.” I think if she was really considering, “This relationship is over,” it would've not had that button on the end of that phone call. For me, at least, as an actress, that little button changed it all for me. I went, “Oh, she's vulnerable. She's a victim at the end of the day, and she is wrapped up in this and she doesn't how to unwind herself from this complex situation she’s got him in.” And she needs him, but at the same time, she's like, “If you can't have any understanding for me, I have no idea how to meet you there.” But I thought that moment of her saying, “Please fix this,” was actually one of the fewer times I've seen Bailey being vulnerable.

What Dewan's Statement Means For Bailey & Nolan's Future

How Will Their New Secret Impact The Rookie Season 7?

Out of all the characters in The Rookie, Nolan and Bailey have had one of the longest-term relationships, meeting in season 4 before getting married by season 6. However, this was their most challenging moment yet, as the protagonist's dedication to preserving the law and bringing crime to justice clashed with his loyalty to his wife. It didn't help that Jason was killed right in front of him, dying before a real confrontation between the pair could happen.
