Marvel Rivals Fans Are Begging NetEase To Implement This High-Ranked Feature Into Lower-Ranked Competitive Matches

Fans of the new hero-shooter title Marvel Rivals are requesting that NetEase implement the hero ban feature used in high-ranked matches into the lower ranks, such as Silver, Gold, and above. Competitive mode in Marvel Rivals can go one of two ways, extremely fun and challenging, or an awful fight with players seemingly not knowing how to play their chosen role. One of the major complaints from fans, aside from role queue not being a feature, is the fact that lower-ranked match players cannot ban certain overpowered heroes.

In a recent Reddit post from Expert_Recover_7050, players discuss not only the fact that heroes cannot be banned within the lower ranks, but that there are several players that purposely create new accounts to complete challenges and help carry other players to higher ranks.

There are also issues with hero balancing, especially when it comes to certain DPS and Healers, but the main issue seems to remain the same; how can fans climb ranks with players utilizing a tactic called smurfing, which makes things even more difficult for new or lower-ranked players?

Marvel Rivals Players Believe Bans Should Be Available Throughout All Ranked Comp Matches

Silver, Gold & Higher Should Be Given The Same Feature

Marvel Rivals took the world by storm from the moment it launched, but the same issues have been brought up by fans since the release of competitive matches. While players are still enjoying all that the title has to offer, such as the new heroes heading to the game and skins to collect, the main issues fans have seem to still be lingering. The Reddit thread highlights balance issues and heroes that just seem to be unfair when playing competitively. Hawkeye, Hela, and Punisher are three Duelists that players believe need to be taken down a peg and banned from the lower ranks. Diamond rank and higher tiers have the ability to bans specific heroes, so several players wonder why this feature is only available to those who can get that far ahead.

One comment from Smash96leo makes another good point, as they state, "They need to do something about smurf accounts too. It’s basically another reason why we need placement matches." In response to this, user Lycanthoth comments, "Was watching a friend stream his ranked matches on Discord a few nights ago. While he was in Silver, his team got completely bodied in one match by a Black Panther with TTV in his name. Pulled up his page out of curiosity and guess what? Guy's main account was GM3 :V."

Smurfing is when players who have already made it to a relatively high rank create a new account and go back to lower ranks in order to play against those with less experience, and it's easy to see why that can become problematic.

Our Take: Marvel Rivals Is Fun, But Competitive Matches Can Ruin Your Day

Know When To Hold 'Em And When To Fold 'Em

Earth 616 Magneto and Storm would never team with Punisher unlike in Marvel Rivals

Ranked is a fun way to play Marvel Rivals in a high-stakes setting, rather than just playing to learn new heroes or play with friends across different platforms. The issue lies within the balancing and the ability for high ranked players to go back to lower ranks and make it a lot less fun for those just trying to get their foot in the door. Several fans of the title have stated once you lose two or more matches, take a break, as this can quickly lower your newfound Platinum rank to Gold in the blink of an eye if you aren't careful.

As someone who plays Marvel Rivalsalmost daily, the ability to ban heroes would be a nice touch as I attempt to get out of the lower ranks. Certain heroes, such as Luna Snow and Iron Man, can make ranked matches infuriating due to their ultimate abilities -- mainly Luna creating a ring of immunity for way too long as she dances around. While they may never implement this feature in the lower ranks, it definitely would be nice of them to consider, as retaining new players is important for the longevity of the title.
