Love Is Blind Season 8: Signs David And Lauren Won’t Make It Down The Aisle (Lauren’s Drama With An Ex Is Just The Beginning)
Lauren O'Brien and David Bettenburg have gotten engaged on the latest season of Love Is Blind, but they've already faced many hurdles on their way down the aisle. With three episodes of Love is Blind left, whether they actually tie the knot remains to be seen, but Laura and David's relationship is already showing some red flags. From drama with Lauren's ex to David's inappropriate line of questioning and his somewhat strange relationship with his sister, I don't think their happily ever after will be the ending we all want.
Initially, David made it difficult to like him on Love Is Blind season 8. He was open about how his job in medical aesthetics has made him a shallower person - he thinks that women have to look a certain way to be beautiful. I didn't think Lauren, who works in education, would end up falling for David, since she literally joked that her date with David would be the first one she walked out of. However, they ended up clicking, and David dumped his other pod connection, Molly Mullaney, for Lauren.
David Can Be Inappropriate
David's Demeanor Rubs Some The Wrong Way
Upon meeting several women in the pods, David used his sense of humor to try and break the tension, but his jokes didn't land well. He'd tell women who were over 30 years old that they were no longer attractive. As well, he asked several women what was "wrong" with them because they were still single, and joked that he had an OnlyFans account. Still, Lauren was able to look past David's jokes and form a connection with him.

After meeting Lauren face-to-face and going to Honduras with the other cast members who'd gotten engaged, David made many of the women uncomfortable by asking them personal questions about their partners. Namely, David asked the women if they'd been intimate with their fiancés, since he and Lauren had not been. His cringe-worthy questions made it clear that David still has a lot of emotional maturing to do. I have a sneaking suspicion that Lauren will soon be able to see this, and she'll call off the engagement.
David Just Isn’t That Into Lauren's Past
David Can't Get Over Lauren's Casual Ex
After meeting for the first time face-to-face, Lauren and David's chemistry didn't exactly jump off the screen. Still, they seemed relieved to find they were both attracted to each other, which is one of the biggest hurdles the Love Is Blind couples face. As they spent more and more time together, things felt tense. While discovering more about their lives outside the pods, David seemed to take issue with Lauren's past because he found out that she'd been casually seeing someone prior to going on the show.
Because this Love is Blind season was filmed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, it was very likely that some of the contestants would have mutual friends outside the show, and David happens to know the man Lauren had been seeing. In fact, this male actually lives in the same building that David and Lauren moved into post-show. Talk about a small world. David is clearly threatened by Lauren's past, and he doesn't try to hide it, bringing it up as often as he can.
David’s Sister Is A Looming Threat
David's Close Bond With His Disapproving Sister Might Mean Trouble
Throughout his time in the pods, David opened up about his family life. He lost his mom to cancer, and was still struggling with processing that loss, which endeared him to Lauren. David also let Lauren know that he had an older sister who didn't approve of him going on the show. When David learns that his sister was also aware of Lauren's past with her ex, and isn't happy about it, David uses it to shame Lauren. He tells her that his friends and family are uncomfortable with her ex and putting her in an impossible situation.

Love Is Blind Season 8 Reunion Date Announced As Nick & Vanessa Lachey Get Ready To Grill The Contestants About Their Dramatic Storylines
Details about the Love Is Blind season 8 reunion are here, leaving viewers wondering which cast members will be grilled by Nick and Vanessa Lachey.
I think David entered the pods with genuine intentions to find the love of his life, but he clearly has some healing to do before he can be that partner for someone else. As for Lauren, I feel as though David's relationship with Molly made Lauren territorial over David, who seemed to set the goal, which was him choosing her over Molly. This is never a good start to a healthy relationship. While they both may have had pure intentions, it may not translate to the real world.
Love Is Blind season 8, episodes 10-12 drop on Friday, February 28 on Netflix.
