Love Is Blind Season 8: Signs Dave Made The Wrong Choice Picking Lauren In The Pods (Will He Go Back to Molly?)

David "Dave" Bettenburg had a solid connection with Molly Rose Mullaney and Lauren O'Brien in the pods on Love Is Blind season 8, but he ultimately made the wrong choice by proposing to Lauren. The 33-year-old medical device salesperson fully admitted to being shallow in the pods due to his proximity with women who get Botox and other work done to enhance their appearance. While the Love Is Blind season 8 cast member had a tough time choosing between Molly and Lauren, there are signs he made the wrong decision.

Dave and Lauren are joined by four other couples to get engaged in the pods on Love Is Blind season 8: Taylor Haag & Daniel Hastings, Virginia Miller & Devin Buckley, Monica Danus & Joey Laveirre, and Ben Mezzenga & Sara Carton. While there are red flags in Dave and Lauren's engagement so far, Taylor and Daniel seem the most likely to break up at the end of episodes 1-6. After the reveal, Taylor couldn't shake the feeling that Daniel knew who she was before the pods, even following her on Instagram.

Dave Was A Walking Red Flag In The Pods

He Cheated On An Ex

Dave was a walking red flag in the pods. He opened his conversations with many of the women, though allegedly not Molly, by asking, "So, what's wrong with you?" When Lauren, a social studies curriculum salesperson, said she was 30, Dave responded by saying, "So, you're not attractive anymore." While it's obvious Dave was joking around, picking on women's age and appearance gets a little less funny when he admits he's a super shallow guy and likes girls with Botox.

Dave also admitted to Molly in the pods he had cheated in the past, but it would be a non-issue. However, he also said when he went on bachelor party trips, he often hit on other women or was approached by them. Molly took the news well, revealing her past moral grey areas, but Dave exhibits too many red flags for a sweet woman like Lauren.

Dave And Molly Had A Better Connection

They Had More In Common

Dave was trying to decide between Molly and Lauren in the pods, but he and Molly had a better connection. They talked more openly about sex, joked around easily, and had a similar laid-back style. Lauren seemed to think Molly was aware she was the other person dating Dave, but Molly thought it was Sara who got engaged to Ben. Molly never had an official boyfriend, and Dave was similar as his past relationships were short-lived.

Dave and Molly were better suited for each other, but he still chose to propose to Lauren in the pods.

Lauren backed Dave into a corner, and while Molly was graceful about how things ended, it was clear she was hurt. Previews show Molly and Dave reconnecting at a bar and discussing sex so they could reconnect later in the show. Other couples, like Bliss Poureetezadi and Zack Goytowski, had a similar love story.

Will Dave And Lauren Break Up?

There Could Be Trouble Ahead

Previews show Lauren and Dave having a difficult time, and while it's unclear how it all turns out, it doesn't look good for them. It only looks worse because of Dave's clear in-person connection with Molly at the bar. Lauren might be a little too earnest for Dave, who prefers to have a good time. She deserves someone who's truly ready to settle down and accepts her for who she is. Dave and Lauren seem less likely to make it to the wedding, but Dave and Molly have a chance of reconnecting in Love Is Blind season 8.

Love Is Blind season 8, episodes 7-9 drop on Friday, February 21 at Netflix.
