Love Is Blind Season 8 Made A Huge Casting Mistake (There's Controversy & Spoilers Surrounding One Male Participant)
Love Is Blind made a huge casting mistake in season 8, as a male cast member is turning out to be controversial along with the fact he allegedly spoiled his storyline. Love Is Blind season 8 has been highly anticipated, and it is not disappointing so far as love triangles and quadrangles have formed with five couples coming out of the pods engaged. Love Is Blind season 7 started in early October 2024 and ended the same month, leaving fans with a four-month hiatus from the hit Netflix show.
Love Is Blind season 8, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, does have one difference from season's past, and that's that it has 16 men and 16 women as part of the cast instead of the usual 15 and 15. Season 8 is still following the same usual format, with the couples spending 10 days dating in the pods followed by a group vacation and then the living together portion of the experiment. The entire experience lasts 38 days for the participants, who have to choose whether to follow through with marriage or leave their partner at the altar.
Love Is Blind's History Of Poor Casting Choices
There Have Been Problematic & Clout Chasing Cast
Love Is Blind, produced by Kinetic Content, has long been criticized for its casting decisions. There have been several people cast who had shady pasts, like LIB season 5's Carter Wall, who was accused of being violent and emotionally abusive to Renee Poche, whom he left the pods engaged to. Season 7's Tyler Francis hid the fact that he had three children, and lied about it throughout the season when it was brought up. In that same season, there was a cheating and sexting scandal involving Stephen Richardson.
Season 6's Trevor Sova admitted to being on the show for clout, and he hid the fact he was already in a relationship. Other admitted clout chasers include season 7's Nick Dorka and season 2's Abhishek "Shake" Chatterjee.Love Is Blind participants also have the opportunity to appear in other Netflix reality shows if they are popular enough. Shayne Jansen, Bartise Bowden, Jessica Vestal, and Izzy Zapata, and Micah Lussier are a few of the cast to appear in the Perfect Match, furthering their reality TV fame.
Love Is Blind Shouldn't Have Cast Ben Mezzenga
The Alleged Truth Is Coming Out
The person behind the TikTok account, @hopeyoufindyourdad, has stated that they have personally encountered Love Is Blind season 8 cast member Ben Mezzenga, and that he has a terrible reputation in Minneapolis.
The TikToker claims that the 30-year-old self-employed real estate developer was a cruel playboy during his time at The University of Minnesota.
The once MLB hopeful was a big shot on campus for his burgeoning baseball career and was allegedly misogynistic.
The TikToker claimed to know women who had bad encounters with him, and elaborated on his alleged behavior.
"I saw him go around for years treating women on that campus like they were objects and completely disposable."
If these allegations are true and Ben has a history of treating women badly, he would obviously not make for a positive and safe Love Is Blind cast member.
Ben Allegedly Gave Away Spoilers
Ben & Sara Carton Are Not Together
The TikToker went on to say that Ben hit Minneapolis bars bragging about his appearance on the show and how he planned to say no to Sara at the altar, but the officiant asked Sara about agreeing to marriage first, and she said no. The TikToker relayed, "He went on to treat this woman on the show exactly as we would have expected." TheTikToker also claimed Ben went on the show for clout, as he previously had and still allegedly does have fame aspirations. If these claims are credible, Love Is Blind casting made a huge mistake in selecting Ben.
Love Is Blind season 8 episodes 1-6 air Friday, February 14, 2-25, with episodes dropping every Friday until March 7, 2025.
