I’m Convinced Married At First Sight Season 18’s Cast Is Doing Something Worse Than Denver’s Cast Did Last Season (They’re Hiding Their Drama)

Married At First Sightseason 18 has been teasing out a major cheating scandal throughout the season, but I’m convinced the way the cast has been hiding information is even worse than the fabrication of details from MAFS season 17’s cast. Throughout the last season of the series, viewers have been hoping that the MAFS season 18 cast will be able to make up for how last season’s cast members played the system and ultimately caused a breakdown in the trust viewers had in the show. While Married At First Sight season 18 has been different, there’s still scandal afoot.

Throughout Married At First Sight season 18, viewers have been aware of the impending cheating scandal that will eventually impact the cast, causing the show’s first-ever couple swap. While there haven’t been many details about what to expect from the cheating scandal, like who will be involved, when it will happen, or how it will be revealed, viewers have been guessing about what will happen this season. As MAFS draws closer to its end, the cheating scandal is ramping up, leaving many wondering if the scandal will ultimately be overwhelming or if it could overshadow the MAFS season 17 scandal.

"I think the Married At First Sight season 18 scandal has been far more disrespectful than its predecessor."

MAFS Season 18 Has A Major Cheating Scandal

The Scandal Will Lead To A Couple Swap

Although Married At First Sight season 18’s couples have been concerning this season, the cheating scandal is something that’s been teased all season long without much information. Dr. Pia Holec shared early on in the season that there would be a historic scandal hitting MAFS this season, and ever since, viewers have been waiting to see what will happen. While there have been some clues about which MAFS season 18 cast members will be involved in the scandal, it has yet to be mentioned on the show directly. Even with just a few episodes left, the scandal’s still a mystery.

Even without any clear directives as to who’s part of the MAFSseason 18 cheating scandal, there has been a lot of speculation about what could be happening. Most MAFS fans have made the leap that David Trimble and Madison Myers are the parties at fault, while their MAFS spouses Michelle Tomblin and Allen Slovick have been none-the-wiser to the scandal throughout the season. With many finding Michelle and David’s relationship far too tenuous to sustain itself after the show, Madison may be a better fit for David. Some have even found spoilers about Allen and Michelle potentially getting together.

MAFS Season 17’s Cast Created Their Own Drama For The Cameras

They Didn’t Have Genuine Relationships

Although MAFS season 18 has been top of mind for most viewers, the scandal that took place on Married At First Sight season 17 is still something many are cognizant of. MAFS season 17, which featured five couples getting to know one another and trying to build relationships in Denver, Colorado, was meant to be an exciting one for the series, but turned into one of the worst seasons of the show overall. Throughout the season, it was clear that things were off with most of the couples and many complained that their arguments felt off or disingenuous in nature.

While there were moments within Married At First Sight season 17 where the couples were sharing their genuine feelings and emotions, it was clear that there was something else going on throughout the experiment that led to so many people feeling like the show wasn’t tackling actual issues between the pairs. When it came out during the MAFS season 17 reunion that the cast had orchestrated drama for themselves throughout the season, creating superficial storylines to show on camera while their actual relationships were happening in the moments they spent alone, it was clear how off-course the series had become.

MAFS Season 18’s Cast Is Hiding Their Drama From Viewers

They’re Not Sharing Everything That’s Happening

When it came to light that Married At First Sight season 17’s cast chose to create their own drama to try and keep themselves safe from viewer vitriol, many felt that MAFS season 18 would be a test of whether or not the series could work after so many years. Myself and many other MAFS viewers became distrustful of the series, believing that the advent of social media had made it more difficult than ever to bring unbiased participants to the show. Even so, viewers were hopeful to see changes from Married At First Sight season 18’s cast and protocol.

As Married At First Sight season 18 has aired, it’s been unfortunate to see that the show hasn’t made many changes in the way things have gone, and on top of that, that the cast has pushed forward an even bigger scandal. Though the MAFS season 18 cast hasn’t appeared to create their own drama, they’ve been hiding their relationships and drama from the viewers. While couples like David and Michelle have had their struggles openly, it's been obvious that there’s more going on in many of the relationships than what we see or hear about on screen as viewers.

MAFS Season 18’s Withholding Is Worse Than MAFS Season 17’s Fake Out

It’s Worse To Have Drama Happening & Not Share It

Although the issues with MAFS season 17’s cast caused chaos during the aftermath of the season and throughout the reunion episodes, their issues were contained in a lot of ways. Though they’d lied about their relationships and issues, they’d done so in a way that allowed there to still be some major drama on the show, and they’d come clean about it with the ability for the MAFS experts to question them. The issues with Married At First Sight season 17 were major, but the drama that viewers haven’t seen on MAFS season 18, in my opinion, is far worse.

The Married At First Sight season 18 cast has openly been trying to hide the fact that two of the cast members in different marriages are having an affair rather than letting things play out openly. While it’s possible Michelle may know about David & Madison’s affair while Allen doesn’t, I’m starting to believe that David & Madison got caught early in the season and came clean to their partners by the time the MAFS honeymoons ended. With the couples hiding in plain sight, I think the Married At First Sight season 18 scandal has been far more disrespectful than its predecessor.

Married At First Sight airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
