I'm Certain Welcome To Plathville Season 7 Will Have A Totally Different Narrative (The Premise Changes Will Be Entertaining)
Welcome to Plathville season 7 is poised to have a narrative shift that will prove to be entertaining. As a Welcome to Plathville expert, with knowledge of all the on and off-screen drama, I'm certain future seasons will be highly engaging. The TLC hit's cast has been comprised of parents, Barry and Kim Plath, and their 10 children (one deceased and one not appearing on the show.) There are four adult Plath kids; Ethan, Micah, Moriah and Lydia, and four minor children, Isaac Amber, Cassia, and Mercy. In Welcome to Plathville season 6, Moriah was the only adult Plath living at home.
Moriah had previously lived in Tampa, Florida, but moved back due to a break-up. Ethan has shuffled between Tampa, Minnesota, and the Plath's hometown of Cairo, Georgia. Micah, a former model, moved to Los Angeles, California, before settling in Southern Florida with his new girlfriend, Veronica Peters. Kim and Barry announced their split in 2022, and they have been sharing custody of the four younger children between Florida and Georgia. So much has changed since the show's debut in 2019, and I'm positive more change is going to take place.
The Plaths' Love Lives Will Take Center Stage
The Plath Relationships Are Interesting
In the earlier seasons, Welcome to Plathville focused more on the Plath family dynamics. The show started with a conservative narrative, as Kim and Barry raised the family fundamentalist. But as time went on and the older kids rebelled and moved out with more relaxed value systems, Kim and Barry followed suit. Oldest Plath brother Ethan's relationship with Olivia Plath was a focal point of the show, and then Moriah's first boyfriend, and their relationship was highlighted in seasons 2 and 3.
Micah's move to California and subsequent playboy era was touched on, but the show has taken the direction towards showcasing the Plath's love lives more. In WTP season 6, Micah let his dad know that his DMs were filled with women inquiring about him, with many women interested in dating Barry. Kim moved on from Barry quickly after their split and started dating Ken Palmer. Now, Kim and Ken's relationship is a storyline in the show.
Moriah's latest heartbreak (via Access Hollywood) was a huge narrative in Welcome to Plathville season 6, and it proved to be very impactful on the whole Plath family. The general shift of the show has been towards detailing the individual Plath family member's love lives, and it's been highly entertaining.
With the nuclear family broken up, fans are interested in each of the Plath's significant others.
Ethan ended WTP season 6 single, Micah was in a tumultuous relationship with Veronica, Moriah was back on with her toxic ex, Barry was focusing on himself, and Kim was with Ken. Lydia has had two boyfriends on the show, but they haven't appeared on camera, but that could change in season 7. I'm certain Welcome to Plathville season 7 will focus more on the dating culture and drama in the Plath relationships, and that will likely carry the season the most.
The Plaths Could Go On Vacation
& Their Group Dynamic Could Play Out
Another angle Welcome to Plathville could take in season 7 is for the Plath family to go on vacation altogether. Since Kim and Barry are still battling out their divorce over financial disagreements, having them go on vacation together could be reality TV gold. Moreover, Ethan has had a strained relationship with Kim, but they have been trying to build a bridge. I've witnessed Kim's well-known narcissistic and problematic behavior, her and Ethan's reconnection could go south if they were on vacation together.
Kim and Barry are still endeavoring to be civil and paint a happy picture of co-parenting for their younger kids, so a family vacation would fit that objective. I know Moriah has been a polarizing figure on the show, as she has been the most rebellious, so her presence on a vacation could bring an interesting dynamic. Ethan has a new girlfriend, and Micah's girlfriend is already a part of the show, so I feel having Plath partners involved with the vacation could prove to be entertaining for more insight.
Olivia Will Be Off The Show
Olivia Is No Longer Relevant
Olivia and her drama with the Plaths was a huge narrative from season 1. Since Ethan and Olivia divorced officially in season 6 and Olivia debuted her new boyfriend, it wouldn't make sense to keep her on the show. Olivia has been a popular figure for her harsh takes and constant criticism. While I believe she was a great contributor to the entertainment value of the show, I know keeping her on wouldn't make sense.
I think that if she were to stay on the show, her storyline would be pretty far removed.
From my perspective, if Olivia were to continue on, she would have to be in Ethan's presence for a divorce follow-up or closure, which is not out of the question. Olivia still has a lot of interest in her from Welcome to Plathville viewers, and I feel like keeping her on wouldn't be a detriment to the show. However, she is no longer relevant to the Plathville storyline, and I believe the network won't want to keep her on for that reason.
The Religious Narrative Could Be Totally Gone
Kim & Barry Have Loosened The Reigns
The Plath family story started because Kim and Barry were fundamentalist parents raising a brood of kids in an abnormal structure. Now, the structure is still abnormal, but the overly-religious tone to the earlier seasons is almost gone. I feel like fitting religion into the portrayal of the Plaths no longer serves a purpose.
Everyone in the family has acted in ways that don't paint them in a positive light religiously, and I'm certain they likely want that element gone for that reason as well. I'm positive Welcome to Plathville will return for a seventh season, but it will be different. Not only with any religious chronicles be gone but the show will also gear more towards the family dynamics and the Plath love lives, sans Olivia.
