Final Fantasy Title Has Been Removed From IOS After An "Unfixable Bug" Wreaks Havoc
A fatal bug surrounding in-app purchases has forced Square Enix to shut down the iOS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. The remaster of the spinoff FF title was released in 2020, when it became available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and mobile devices. Now, it seems the iOS players will not be able to access the game anymore thanks to a coding issue originating from an update made by Apple, according to Square Enix's explanation.
According to a blog on the Final Fantasy website (originally spotted by The Verge), the company had been receiving player reports starting on January 24 from people making in-app purchases but not receiving their items. As a result, Square Enix has decided to delist FF Crystal Chronicles from the iOS store and is offering refunds for eligible players who request them.

Players Can Request Refunds But Only If They Meet The Criteria
According to Square Enix, the bug affecting the Crystal Chronicles remaster was caused by changes made by Apple to the way in-app purchases work. After attempting to reshape the way the game works around these changes, Square Enix is "unable to completely fix the bug and implement the new changes, making it unlikely to resume service for the game." As a result, the game has been removed from the iOS App Store and will no longer be available for download or purchase.
Players who made in-app purchases in January 2024 or later can request a refund. Refunds will only be made for the following items:

Unfortunately, it seems that Square Enix is not planning to reimburse any players who made purchases prior to January 2024. The company will continue to process refund requests through August 31, 2025.
Where Can Fans Still Play Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles?
The Error Only Affects The IOS Version Of The Game
Lucky for fans, the bug is only affecting iOS versions of Crystal Chronicles, and the game continues to be available on other platforms. Fans can currently play the remastered version of the game on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Android. (Mention of iOS has already been removed from the official Square Enix page for the game).
Unfortunately for newer players, the removal of the game from the iOS store means anyone who had started the game but didn't purchase all the dungeons will not get to complete their game. Fortunately, you can still experience Final Fantasy Crystal Chroniclesremaster on the other platforms, where Square Enix continues to support the title.
