My Hero Academia'smanga is over now as of August 5, 2024, much to the dismay of fans worldwide. However, My Hero Academia's creator, Kohei Horikoshi, has just offered lovers of his series a new recommendation to distract them from missing the superhero shonen so much.

The series Horikoshi suggested fans check out next is called The Regalia of the Underdog, an action fantasy series by Shinachiku. Although The Regalia of the Underdog has a very different plot and is not exactly the same genre as My Hero Academia, it is sure to delight viewers of the series regardless.

Horikoshi Recommends The Regalia of the Underdog to Fans

The Battle Action Fantasy Shonen Is Sure To Be the Next Big Thing in Manga

According to a post by @MangaMoguraRE on X, Kamase Inu no Regalia, or The Regalia of the Underdog is a battle action fantasy that follows "a cocky noble boy who seemingly has it all: wealth, power and talent." As the story continues, the noble boy begins competing in royal exams but meets his match when he fights against a blacksmith boy who is surprisingly stronger than him. The series has it all: drama, thrilling battles, and an arrogant character's redemption arc as he rethinks his behavior and gradually changes his outlook on life and those he previously viewed as beneath him.

The Regalia of the Underdog is not available in English yet, but it is only a matter of time before someone translates the chapters and brings this intriguing series to American readers. Since it comes highly recommended by Kohei Horikoshi, an immensely talented writer himself, The Regalia of the Underdog is almost guaranteed to become a hit, not just in Japan, but worldwide. It is common for mangaka to suggest other mangas they enjoy to their readers, and The Regalia of the Underdog is definitely not the first series Kohei Horikoshi has offered praise about to his audience.

From Ichi the Witch to Kagurabachi, the My Hero Academia Writer Has Exceptional Taste in Manga

Another recent recommendation by Horikoshi is Ichi The Witch, written by Osamu Nishi and illustrated by Shiro Usazaki. Ichi the Witch is a magical fantasy series that tells the story of a world filled with magic, monsters, and witches, but the twist is that only women can be witches. That all changes when the male protagonist, Ichi, becomes a witch himself. Ichi the Witch's manga has been very positively received by readers so far, for its intriguing and creative plot and gorgeous art style. Horikoshi's recommendation certainly helped new fans discover the series, revealing how influential his praise for a series can be.
