Civ 7: How To Win An Economic Victory With Amina
One of the best candidates for an Economic Victory in Civilization 7 is the powerful leader Amina. She has a natural affinity for trade, resource management, and bolstering Gold reserves, especially when playing with some of her strategic civilization options. Across the Ages, Amina can pump out some serious Gold yields and will excel at establishing trade routes, maintaining peaceful trade relationships with allies, and crushing anyone who opposes her coin with a powerful Military presence. An Economic Victory is achieved by completing the Silk Roads, Treasure Fleets, and Railroad Tycoon Legacy Paths, as well as the World Bank project.
The civilizations with which Amina can most effectively do this are Aksum in the Antiquity Age, Songhai in the Exploration Age, and Mughal in the Modern Age. Each of these features unique Economic-focused bonuses that will propel Amina to an ultimate victory. Her Warrior Queen of Zazzau ability not only gives each city +1 Resource capacity, but also provides +1 Gold per Age for each Resource assigned to Cities. These features on their own are enough to give her an edge, but when combined with each Civ's unique abilities and buffs, Amina is an unstoppable force for an Economic win.

Aksum's Tankwa Trade Units Cannot Be Pillaged
Aksum is an obvious and natural choice of starting Civ for Amina's pursuit of an Economic Victory. The Aksumite's Kingdom of Natural Wealth ability gives them +2 Gold on Resources, complementing Amina's ability quite nicely. Amina can take advantage of the Dhow Naval units and establish as many naval trade routes as possible early in the campaign with their one-time use ability to establish an instant trade route. Aksum's naval trade units, the Tankwa, are indestructible and cannot be pillaged, plus they have a +10 trade route range. These features will help Amina dominate the Silk Roads Legacy Path.
Amina Antiquity Age Overview: Aksum | |
---|---|
Civics | Code of Laws, Commerce, Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, Monumentum Adulitanum |
Techs | Sailing, Currency, Navigation |
Government | Oligarchy, Classical Republic |
Pantheon | God of the Forest, God of the Sun |
Wonders | Great Stele, Colossus, Monks Mound |
Unlock Code of Laws as soon as possible to gain access to trade routes and slot new Resources into Amina's cities. Spend Influence to befriend Independent Powers and trading with them after making them City-States, and on increasing trade relationships with other Civs. Be on the lookout for Camel Resources as well, which boost City Resource limits and are typically found near Desert tiles. Take advantage of the Hawilt, a unique Aksum Improvement that gives +2 Gold and +1 Culture for adjacent Wonders and other Hawilti. As Amina progresses along the Silk Roads path, consider purchasing Military units as Gold becomes more abundant.
You'll also want to pursue the Aksumite unique Civic Tree as Amina, not only to unlock the Hawilt and get a Resource Capacity increase for Coastal Settlements, but also to take advantage of the Traditions in the coming Ages. Amina should definitely acquire the Throne of My Fathers Tradition from the Monumentum Adulitanum Civic, while both the Port of Nations and May This Please the People Traditions will come in handy in the next Ages as well. Further, it's important that Amina establishes at least one coastal city near deep Ocean terrain to prepare for travel into the Distant Lands in the coming Age.

Songhai's Tajiro Trader Unit Awards Extra Gold
The Songhai are a clear-cut Exploration Age Civ choice for Amina and will thrive with the Silk Roads Golden Age active. You should focus on creating Treasure Fleets in Distant Lands during the Exploration Age, so you should prioritize researching Cartography (and eventually Shipbuilding), purchasing or producing a Settler, and sending a Scout or Cog across Deep Ocean terrain to find an ideal spot to settle (or invade). If you want to take a more Militaristic approach, the Songhai's Gold Bangles Infantry units can pillage trade routes for 100% Gold and get a +5 combat bonus fighting on Resource tiles.
Amina Exploration Age Overview: Songhai | |
---|---|
Civics | Ships of the Desert, Colonialism |
Techs | Cartography, Guilds, Shipbuilding |
Government | Plutocracy |
Beliefs | Tithe, Dawah |
Wonder | Tomb of Askia |
Once Settlements with Treasure Resources are established, be sure to build a Fishing Quay to start spawning Treasure Fleets ASAP. The closer these are to home-continent territory, the better, and maximizing the number of Treasure Resources in a Settlement will increase the rewards from each individual Fleet. Amina should continue establishing trade routes, and unlock the Songhai Ships of the Desert Civic early to build the Tomb of Askia for an excellent Gold-boosting Wonder, as well as the Caravanserai improvement. Establishing a Religion isn't necessarily a priority, but the Tithe belief is bountiful if used strategically.
Overall, in the Exploration Age, Amina should establish Settlements in the Distant Lands on Navigable Rivers that lead to Oceans to take advantage of the Songhai's Tarikh Al-Sudan ability, which boosts Resource Capacity in Cities on Navigable Rivers. The Caravanserai improvements also receive adjacency bonuses from Navigable Rivers. In preparing for the Modern Age, Amina will need to unlock Mughal during gameplay by having at least four trade routes to unique civilizations, which should be a non-issue for her.

Mughal's Unique Civic Lets You Purchase Wonders
With the Tap the Source Legacy and Treasure Fleets Golden Age active, Mughal will be ideal for Amina in securing the ultimate Economic Victory. She will begin the Modern Age with all Cities from the Exploration Age still intact, plus a massive Economy boost from the Mughal's Paradise of Nations ability. This feature gives Amina +75% Gold from all sources with a -25% penalty to all yields, and the downside is easily offset by being able to purchase buildings — and even Wonders. The priority in the Exploration Age is to get Factories up and running immediately.
Amina Modern Age Overview: Mughal | |
---|---|
Civics | Gardens of Paradise, Globalism, Capitalism |
Techs | Combustion, Industrialization |
Government | Bureaucratic Monarchy |
Ideology | Fascism |
Wonders | Red Fort, Taj Mahal |
Unlock the Mughal Gardens of Paradise Civic as soon as possible for a massive discount on purchasing everything, and to unlock the ability to purchase Wonders. Gold should be abundant throughout this Age, and Amina should consider repairing any negative relationships with other civilizations to lower the cost of establishing World Banks in their capitals. Once the Railroad Tycoon Legacy Path is complete, a World Banker will spawn in the capital. Send this unit out right away to every major capital in the game to secure Amina's Civilization 7 Economic Victory.
