Lara Rigby finally opened up about the Below Deck Down Under scene that showed her getting emotional. She replaced Aesha Scott as chief stew for Below Deck Down Under season 3, after Aesha returned to Below Deck Med. Lara has made quite the first impression in just the first two episodes alone. She admitted she's a perfectionist, which isn't a bad thing, but her perfectionism has led to the chief stew getting overwhelmed by everything going on around her. In the most recent episode, she broke down crying in her cabin, and Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph tried to calm her down.

Lara took to Instagram to address how emotional she got on Below Deck Down Under. The reality star explained why she got really emotional and the full context surrounding that scene. Lara said the entire yacht was just like the mess that viewers saw in the galley. It's been years since she's had a panic attack, "but the overwhelming feeling I had stepping onto this boat and the state it was in, the lack of cutlery, clean tea towels, sinks that blocked, no ironing board, broken washing machines" all added up and became hard for her to process and handle.
Also, Lara wasn't used to cameras following her around and capturing her every move. All of these compounding problems led her to wonder if she was making a huge mistake joining Katina. Lara wanted fans to realize that each person on that yacht is "just human" and sometimes it's hard to keep it together. "For years I kept my emotions in to give off a sense of strength, however I truly believe showing these raw emotions makes you stronger than ever," she concluded.

The yachting industry is very stressful, and doing that job while on a reality show only adds more anxiety and pressure. Lara experienced a very real and raw moment on Below Deck Down Under that the cameras captured, whether she wanted them to or not. There was a Below Deck cast member not that long ago that ended up leaving the show after she realized she needed to focus on her mental health. That was a very smart decision to make because it's not healthy to stay in a situation that's only going to make matters worse for their mental health.
Lara admitted that her emotional scene on Below Deck Down Under was the result of a panic attack. Fortunately, Chef Tzarina walked in at that moment and was able to help calm her down and console her. This was only the second episode of the season, which means there are probably around 15 more episodes to go. The crew is still at the beginning stages of the charter season, and there's no telling what other stresses will pop up and affect Lara in a similar manner.

However, time will tell if she can still handle the duties of her job going forward. Whether or not she stays or leaves, she should always put her mental health first.
