Amy Adams Joins TV Adaptation Of A Thriller Movie That Scorsese Already Remade, Across From Oscar-Winner As The Chilling Villain
Amy Adams is one of the best actors of her generation, and she's about to add an exciting new role to her filmography. Adams' best movies include Junebug, Doubt, American Hustle, Arrival, and Nocturnal Animals, and many have led to her being nominated for six Academy Awards, one for Lead Actress and five for Supporting Actress. However, Adams has unfortunately never won an Oscar for any of her roles, though this hasn't stopped her from pursuing unique projects. Most recently, Adams starred in the 2024 film Nightbitch, in which her character thinks she's turning into a dog.
While Adams has appeared in a lot of movies, aside from early in her career, she hasn't starred in many television shows. However, she did appear in the 2018 psychological thriller miniseries Sharp Objects. The HBO project has an impressive score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and follows reporter Camille Preaker, who returns to her hometown to investigate unsolved crimes. Seven years after receiving acclaim for her performance in Sharp Objects, Adams has signed on to star in another series, which is a TV adaptation of a Martin Scorsese movie from the 1990s.
Amy Adams Will Star In The Cape Fear TV Series
Cape Fear Is Being Remade Into A Show
Amy Adams has joined the cast of Apple TV+'s Cape Fear series. The upcoming Cape Fear series is an adaptation of the 1962 and 1991 movies of the same name, the latter of which was directed by Scorsese. These movies are in turn based on the 1957 novel The Executioners, and follow Anna and Tom Bowden, married attorneys who are put in danger when Max Cady, a sex offender who they have history with, is released from prison.
As reported by TVLine, Adams has officially signed on to star as Anna Bowden in the Cape Fear series. She will star alongside critically-acclaimed actor Javier Bardem, who will play Max Cady. The series will premiere on Apple TV+ and will consist of ten episodes. Nick Antosca will serve as showrunner, and Scorsese will serve as an executive producer alongside fellow filmmaker Steven Spielberg, Adams, and Bardem.
Our Take On Amy Adams Joining The Cape Fear TV Series
Adams Is A Great Choice For The Cape Fear Series
If Cape Fear stays true to the film adaptations, then Anna's husband, Tom, withholds evidence, which leads to Max Cady being sent to prison for 14 years. Therefore, Max Cady is furious and dead-set on revenge when he is finally released. Pairing Adams and Bardem onscreen together will surely lead to some thrilling scenes in this reimagined Cape Fear. In addition, the involvement of both Scorsese and Spielberg all but guarantees this show will be a success. Therefore, it is extremely exciting that Adams has signed on to star in Cape Fear.
