All 20 Bluey Shorts Ranked (& Where To Watch The Minisodes Online)
The Australian animated series Bluey, has been a certified hit across the pond in the USA, with the show releasing a series of short episodes, called "minisodes". Like the original series, these Bluey shorts follow the day-to-day adventures of the titular anthropomorphic six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy, her younger sister Bingo, father Bandit, and mother Chilli. Most Bluey episodes offer lessons that parents and kids alike can learn from, and while the minisodes don't offer heartfelt messages of quite the same depth, they're still worth watching.
Running from one to three minutes per minisode, the Bluey shorts were released in three parts. The first seven-episode batch was released in June 2024 first in Australia before expanding worldwide in July, while the second seven-episode batch was released in October and the final six episodes coming in the third batch in December. These bite-sized minisodes are perfect to tide fans over until Bluey season 4 comes out, though some are better than others.
20 Whirlpool
Episode 14
Bluey and Bingo create a whirlpool by running in circles around the outside of the inflatable pool in their yard when their neighbor Chucky decides to join in the fun. That’s it. It’s definitely not the best of the Bluey shorts, although there’s nothing wrong with watching kids having wholesome, simple fun, but it’s easy to skip over.
19 Animals
Episode 7
Chilli is one of the best TV moms, and in this minisode, she plays a game of “animals” with Bingo, who lays down on her mom’s lap while Chilli uses her fingers to imitate different animals crawling on her back. It’s a very simple premise, but one that may give parents a cute idea for playing with their own little ones.
18 Strong Potion
Episode 15
Bandit kicks Bingo out of his bedroom, but luckily, Bluey is nearby selling pretend potions. She gives Bingo a strong potion, which Bingo gulps down and uses to fight back against her dad. This one isn’t all that great compared to other minisodes, so viewers won’t miss much if they decide to skip it.
17 Alongside
Episode 20
This Bluey short features a split-screen, side-by-side comparison of Bluey’s daily routine compared to her friend Honey, the beagle. The screens meet up halfway when Honey and Bluey excitedly greet each other when their cars meet up at a red light. The minisode shows that no matter how different the two girls’ personalities are, they are still great friends, and it's a cute watch.
16 Phoney
Episode 9
Chilli, Bluey, and Bingo want to listen to some relaxing music via the digital assistant, but the obnoxious unicorn puppet Unicorse keeps changing it to metal music. "Phoney" isn’t high on the list of best Bluey shorts, but it does feature one of the show’s most fun side characters.
15 Hungry
Episode 5
Bandit is so hungry that he could eat his own kid. Against Chili’s advice that children don’t agree with his stomach, he “gobbles up” Bluey and then pretends to vomit her out. It’s a silly short of Bandit doing what he does best, which is making the girls laugh.
14 Where’s Bingo?
Episode 18
Gee, Bandit can’t find Bingo anywhere, even after he asks Bluey and Chilli for help. It turns out she’s been riding piggyback behind him the entire time. It’s a cute little minisode with Bandit and Bingo playing a game that many parents have likely played with their own young ones before, and one that everyone will get a kick out of.
13 Burger Dog
Episode 1
Bluey and Bingo want to listen to their favorite song, “Burger Dog” on Dad’s phone. He complies, but about ten seconds in, the annoying song gets to be too much for him. A situation that every parent can relate to, Bandit’s response will have everyone with kids saying, “Yep, been there!”
12 Bingo 3000
Episode 2
This adorable minisode has Bingo pretending to be a defective robot while Bandit “calls” tech support to get her working. Bingo’s infectious giggles and Bandit’s hilarious attempt at troubleshooting make this short a wholesome watch.
11 Drums
Episode 12
Bingo, Bluey, and Chilli visit the music shop to find a violin for Bingo, which her mom thinks would be a good fit for her. Bingo, meanwhile, is drawn to an electric drum kit, and it turns out that she’s a natural percussionist. This cute minisode is a good reminder for parents to pay attention to their children’s interests, which may turn out to be more worthwhile than they realize.
