1000-Lb Sisters stars Tammy Slaton and Amanda Halterman both mourned the loss of a beloved family member recently, and it brought up more questions about the future of the show. The beloved unscripted series premiered in 2020 and recently aired its sixth season. It centers around the weight-loss journeys of eccentric Kentucky sisters Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton, but several of their siblings also appear on the show, including Amanda.
The Slatons are a close-knit family, so they do almost everything together. They celebrate good times and struggle through hard times as a unit, which has always made them stronger. Over the years, the Slatons have had plenty of good times and bad. With 1000-lb Sisters season 6 airing recently, the family has been running into some bad luck, and the entire future of the show could be in question.
The Slatons Are A Close-Knit Family
They Do Everything Together...Even Lose Weight
The Slaton family has always been a close-knit bunch. During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, the Slatons proved how close they were by seeing the doctor together. The family went in for a Slaton family weigh-in, where they got updates on their incredible weight-loss journeys. Most impressively of all, 37-year-old Amy lost 125 pounds, 44-year-old Chris Combs lost 150 pounds, and 38-year-old Tammy lost an incredible 500 pounds.
Tammy & Amanda Both Mourned The Loss
"My Mom's Beloved Baby Girl Passed Away"
Since the premiere of 1000-lb Sisters, it's always been clear that the Slatons are animal lovers. They've always had pets. Amanda recently posted a sad Instagram announcement about the death of her mother's dog, Baby Girl. "My mom’s beloved Baby Girl passed away the other day," wrote Amanda. "She has given My mom so much joy and companionship over the last 20 years. That’s not a typo. 20 years baby Girl has been with my momma." Tammy also posted about the loss, sharing Amanda's post.
Will Tammy Leave Kentucky?
She Could Be Finished With The Bluegrass State
1000-lb Sisters season 6 often found Tammy threatening to leave Kentucky. The show films in the Bluegrass State, where producers benefit from tax incentives that make the show possible. If Tammy ended up leaving Kentucky, it could mean the end of the show. It's possible that the passing away of a beloved family pet made Tammy rethink her desire to escape her family.
